Has this happened to you? You snap a few photos with your phone and then realize they are all blurry. You stare at them, confused, not knowing how they tuned out that way. Honestly, It has happened to me too. At that time, I didn't understand why they were coming out blurry. After much research and failed attempts, I know exactly how to avoid blurry images. Today, I'm sharing with you three reasons your photos are blurry and how to fix them.
#1 Dirty camera lens
When was the last time you checked your phone's camera lens? Before I knew about this, I never did. I know it happens to many of us. In my opinion, this is the #1 overlooked reason your photos are blurry.
We have phones in our pockets, purses, and hands all day. The oils of our hands and face get on the camera lens, or debris from our pockets and purse make it dirty. All you need to do to fix this issue is wipe your camera lens with a microfiber cloth or a cotton shirt before taking your photos. Get in the habit of doing this every time you take a picture.
#2 Camera Shake
Are you using a tripod or phone mount to take your photos? I know we don't walk around with a phone mount, LOL, and I'm not saying you should. But when you intentionally take pictures for your baking business, you need to use one. No matter how still you think you are holding your phone, even if you use both hands, there will always be a slight movement which causes blurry photos.
If you don't have a tripod or phone mount, prop the phone against something. Use the camera self-timer, a remote shutter, or your wired headphone. Yes, your wired headphone! Plug the wired headphone into your phone, then click the volume up or down button. Genies, right! I can already see you looking for your wired headphone to try this trick.
#3 Lighting
Last but not least, LIGHTING. When we have bad lighting, we end up with a pixelated image (blurry or fuzzy looking)
The light captured by your camera is what "draws" the picture. If you don't have proper lighting, there's not enough light to grasp to "draw" a quality photo. The result is a blurred image.
It would help to find good natural light around your home to fix bad lighting. Taking photos on your table or countertops will not suffice unless you have good natural light. I suggest you set up your photo shoot near a window.
That was a lot to take in, but if you follow these steps, you are one step closer to taking blurry-free photos. Remember, wipe your camera lens, use a trip pod or phone mount, and most importantly, find good lighting.
