When was the last time you posted a photo of a cake slice or the inside of your dessert? If it's been a while, you should consider posting one soon.

I don’t know about you, but I'm a visual person. I like to see how a product looks before I buy it. Do you do the same?... I'm sure you do too! Remember the saying, “People buy with their eyes.” It’s true, and we do it for anything we purchase, whether it is food or a product.

I usually look up the business's Instagram or yelp for pictures and reviews. It's the same for the person on the other end that just found your page.

Did you know? Research shows that you have 7 seconds to make an excellent first impression.

This is why you should start posting photos that attract attention. Instead of your followers scrolling past your photos, they should be drooling over them, liking, and commenting on them. Let your current and new followers see the inside of the dessert. Indulge in the goodness of your dessert, leaving them wanting more and encouraging them to place an order.

I know you can't possibly cut into every dessert you make but consider taking some time to bake your most popular items and schedule a photoshoot.

Take a look at the photos in this blog post. They are all from the same photoshoot. Notice how I took simple photos, used different angles, and added props.

They are inviting. You can picture yourself sitting at the table, enjoying a peaceful afternoon eating a slice of cake and making memories with family or friends. That is the vibe and mood you want your customers to feel when they run into your photo.

Remember, it takes 7 seconds to make a good first impression. Take the time out now for a photoshoot before the busy holiday season. Most importantly, ensure that the dessert looks moist and inviting, NOT dry otherwise, you will lose them forever.

BONUS TIP: Just because you took all the photos on the same day doesn't mean you post them all at the same. Spread them out, and post 1 or 2 of them a month. Don't be afraid to repurpose. People will not remember what you posted last month or three months ago. Plus, if they are popular items, you want to continue to show them and get your customers to order.
